3:08am. Dominate!
Dominate! Now there’s a word that deserves an exclamation point. Some words without any punctuation can leave doubt to what is meant. Is the writer angry, happy, or sad? Is the emotion flat, non-caring, unaffected, or questioning? The word “Dominate” leaves little doubt about what is being said. It is almost as if it carries it’s own punctuation with it. How can you dominate and be flat and uncaring? Or how can you carry “it” out; without a strong sense of direction and purpose? This word may bring to some; a vision of the sports, or business worlds, but it’s origins are way before that. We need to go all the way back to the beginning to see what this word is about.
In Genesis 1:28 ESV we see: “And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have DOMINION over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Other versions say “rule” or “reign”. What good is a king or ruler that doesn’t take dominion? If the “living things” on the earth needed someone to take/have dominion over them; then why do we act as if things will “just fall into place”?
Why do we accept “Well, it’s just not my time yet.” or “I’ve got to be submissive to the will of God.”
Submissive and submitted to His will? YES! His will IS for YOU to DOMINATE! So this IS your time and this IS your opportunity. Since He has given you this ONE life and you are THE steward over it; take full advantage of your opportunity to dominate!
3:10 is my best friend
Revelation 3:10 ESV “Because you have kept my word (command) about PATIENT ENDURANCE, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth.”
We all need a friend sometimes. But, there are some friends that we must bind to ourselves and not ever let them go.
No one likes waiting for things; especially when they are great and marvelous things. This “patient endurance” is more than just an idea or a “friend” to keep close to our side. It is a command from the Lord. A command with a promise. When the whole earth is going through “the hour of trial” He will keep us from it.
If we have had “patient endurance” He will “deliver us from evil” just as Jesus prayed. And similarly as Noah and his family; we will be safe in the “ark” of God’s choosing.
So if we will need this in the end; at the hour of the earth’s great trial. It might be a good idea if we start incorporating “patient endurance” into our daily lives NOW. Call it a trial run.
Wouldn’t you like to see your “life boat” in action in the “kiddie pool” of your daily life before you take it out on the “ocean” of great tribulation?
God wants us to succeed. He has given us dominion and with it patient endurance; that we may be able to overcome. He didn’t do this with the end goal being victory in our daily lives (even though sometimes it seems like that is a “great enough” victory). He did it with a vision and a goal that we WOULD overcome in the end (when it really matters; you know, eternally).
3:11 Hate indecency
“And they have conquered (overcame) him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.” Revelation 12:11 ESV
Who did they conquer? The accuser; who was cast down to the earth. They triumphed over him completely (in every area).
Firstly, in their agreement and surrender to God and the blood of His Son as the perfect sacrifice, putting them in right relationship with God.
Secondly, the word or their testimony (how they walked out their lives on the earth).
And lastly, they didn’t regard or care that satan could attempt to effect their natural “lives” here on earth even to the point of death (think Job).
A three strand cord is not easily broken. It is what destroys/conquers/overcomes the enemy. Even with all the wealth of “information”/”knowledge”/”wisdom” that is and will be available to the enemy and those that follow him. They will not be able to escape the “bundling up” and “casting into the fire” because they refused to receive the simple truths of:
“The blood of the Lamb”, “dominion”, & “patient endurance”
that were plain to see and made available for their benefit. While they hated Him (God) and those following Him. He had already died so that they could be free from sin. He hated their indecency and immortality, but they would not separate themselves from it; so they will suffer the same judgement as the sin; and burn in the fire with it.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 BSB
